These negative experiences pushed me to write this guide to help you navigate the world of holistic practitioners with discernment and confidence. As in every field, it is important to distinguish a good provider from a predatory practice.
He or she sells you additional services during the consultation
The person you are consulting uses the trust you have given them and takes advantage of your vulnerable position to persuade you to agree to extra fees.The medium convinces you that he or she can remove an “evil” you are suffering from
The medium identifies a curse, a spiritual attack, or a negative presence and assures you that they are the only one capable of freeing you from it. This is often accompanied by absolute certainty and dramatization. It undermines your autonomy and your personal power.
It is important to distinguish this from a therapist or medium who identifies a blockage and offers to work on it in order to support resolution or emotional release. In that case, there is no dramatization or exaggeration.He or she says they can heal you
He or she promises to heal a physical illness, a psychological issue, or an emotional trauma. I am sure many therapists can greatly facilitate the healing or release process, but they are by no means the only actors in it. Your body and your mind do the healing; the therapist supports and facilitates the process.The medium claims to predict your future with absolute certainty
The future is never set in stone. A medium may be able to read one or more timelines. Every decision you make, every action you take, changes your life trajectory by guiding you toward the timeline of your choice. Mediums who predict the future with total certainty not only exaggerate their ability, but may also keep you waiting passively for events instead of encouraging you to actively build your life.Your session is charged at exorbitant prices
The fees are excessive: a 30-minute consultation costs several hundred euros, or you are offered “packages” worth several thousand euros for poorly defined services.He or she asks too many questions in order to move the consultation forward

You discover that the medium talks about their clients, shares confidential details from your sessions on social media without permission, or uses your stories as “testimonials” without explicit consent and while mentioning your full name.
